Yuvraj Patil had his formal art education in Kalaniketan Mahavidhyalaya, Kolhapur followed by advanced training in Dalvi's art institute Kolhapur and Bharti Kala Mahavidyalaya, Pune. He participated in several solo and group art shows and all India levels competitions and exhibitions like Camlin Art foundation annual shows, Maharashtra State art shows, Art contest of national levels at Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Pune, Nagpur, Kolhapur, etc and also international levels at Dubai. His work in these exhibitions. and participations was very well appreciated by all. His work is in proud collection of many prominent art collections and art promotional institutions all over the country.
Works are highly entertaining in steaming charcoal with bold and subtle lines, carrying the interplay of light and shade. The streak of red is like a divine deliverance wherever it appears that provides the burning flare to the figures humans and lends a lilting grace and momentum to the forms. There is heavenly peace and tranquillity that graduates to mystical heights that becomes inexplicable at times.
The concept an artist cherishes floats around in his head. And evolves with the passage of time. The lines, the shades, and the shapes which keep on crowding the canvas only much later does coalesce into something the artist has been trying to achieve, to express.
If viewers ponder over the images and experience an emotion, whatever be it, I would feel that a conversation has begun.
Our surrounding and its elements are his subjects of painting such as Nomadic tribes, Mumbai, Fountain, Gate Way of India. The authenticity of these subjects is the core of his paintings. He has a realistic approach of painting a man, place or a thing, their miniature, distribution of shadows, depth, density through his very little weapons like charcoal black, canvas white and a pure red. He has attempted to present his observation and skill of expressing it very cleverly by including the tiniest portion of every subject into his painting.
In this vast universe any picture or an object when simplified to its original form we primarily evident its lines, shape, shadow and its distribution etc. and then slowly we explore its colour, categorization and overall appearance. Shadow and its distribution is a very crucial constraint of a picture, it is nothing but the two main faces shade and light that is Black and White.
